Welcome to the training on Assessments, Education, and Prevention in the Dental Home provided by Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).

Goal

The goal of this module is to equip Texas Health Steps dentists and other dental care professionals to implement nationally recognized dental quality measures such as individualized caries risk assessment and age-appropriate anticipatory guidance to improve oral health for patients 3 through 20 years.

Target Audience

Texas Health Steps dentists and other interested dental care professionals.

Specific Learning Objectives

After completing the activities of this module, you will be able to:

  1. Explain the role of the dental home in providing preventive oral health care for children, adolescents, and young adults. 
  2. Specify how to perform caries risk assessment and provide age-appropriate anticipatory guidance as part of routine dental exams. 
  3. Apply the schedule of preventive and comprehensive oral health services recommended for children and adolescents enrolled in Texas Health Steps.
